Drawing and me.
I like to draw.
It is the basis of what I do as an artist.
It is my way of trying to understand what I feel about the world I live in.
It's a type of meditation.
I like making marks, lines, dots, scratches, blots, on a piece of paper that sort of magically result in an image of what I want people to see, not a copy of an object or landscape but the sense of a thing or place.
The marks in my drawings are the front man. Colour is the backup singers.
My preferred medium is fiber tip pen, pen and ink and from time to time brush and ink.
The following are some examples of my drawings with quotes that inspire me or I like by famous artists
"I sometimes think there is nothing so delightful as drawing." Vincent van Gogh
"Drawing is vision on paper." Andrew Loomis
"Photography is an immediate reaction, drawing is a meditation." Henri Cartier-Bresson
"Drawing is the artist's most direct and spontaneous expression, a species of writing: it reveals, better than does painting, his true personality." Edgar Degas
"Drawing is not what one sees but what one can make others see." Edgar Degas
"Drawing is the honesty of the art. There is no possibility of cheating. It is either good or bad." Salvador Dali
The first writing of the human being was drawing, not writing. Marjane Satrapi
Sketching is almost everything. It is the artist’s identity, his style, his conviction, and then color is just a gift to the drawing. Fernando Botero
Art (drawing in my case) washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life. Pablo Picasso
How you draw is a reflection of how you feel about the world. You’re not capturing it, you’re interpreting it. Juliette Aristides
Drawing takes time. A line has time in it. David Hockney
My attitude towards drawing is not necessarily about drawing. It’s about making the best kind of image I can make, it’s about talking as clearly as I can. Jim Dine
