RED ROCKS is a new print I have added to my online gallery. The image is based on a detail of a photograph I saw of a central Australian landscape. Rock outcrops in the landscape fascinate me for some reason I am yet to determine. I think it may have something to do with the sculptural quality, their strength and that they seem to be able to withstand all thrown at them by the natural world. The unique colour of central Australia in these rocks was also a factor that I wanted to exaggerate.
This is a two plate print. The colour was printed using a collograph block and the black using a copper plate using a traditional etching method. It was hand printed onto acid free Canson paper in a limited edition of 5. Using this method I was able to concentrate on creating strong forms and textures I felt were the essence of the image.
The print is available for purchase from my online gallery or by using this LINK.
